Proclamation Request
The Office of Mayor Jason A. Reeves will issue Proclamations or Certificates of Commendation for extraordinary state or local events or citizens who deserve special recognition from the Mayor. Proclamations will be issued for events or activities that affect a broad group of people. Content and subject matter of the proclamation must not take sides in matters of political, ideological or religious controversy or individual convictions.
Proclamations must not be used in whole or as part of an advertisement or commercial promotion, nor will they be issued for for-profit businesses or corporations. Any use of the proclamation in a news release or any other publication must be approved by the Mayor’s Office prior to publication. Requests for proclamations must be made by a Troy resident or organization. Organizations are limited to one proclamation request within the same calendar year. The Mayor’s Office reserves the right to modify or deny any proclamation request. The issuance of any proclamation does not indicate mayoral endorsement of the event or the content of the event being proclaimed, and cannot be used for fundraising purposes.
Certificates of Commendation recognize an individual or group achievement along with major contributions to the community. Certificates of commendation will not be issued to honor birthdays. Please allow two weeks for your certificate to be available. Certificates may be picked up in person at the Mayor’s Office located at 301 Charles W. Meeks Avenue (City Hall) between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Please call 334.566.0177 before coming to City Hall to ensure your certificate is ready.
Procedures
Submit the REQUEST FORM by mailing to Mayor Jason A. Reeves, P.O. Box 549, Troy, Alabama, 36081. You may also fax your request to 334-239-0636 or email to proclamations@troyal.gov. Upon receipt, your request will be evaluated and approved, staff will generate the certificate. You will be notified when your document is ready.
