Planning Commission

The Troy Planning Commission is a nine-member board eight of which are appointed by the Mayor for a six-year term. One is appointed by the City Council and serves for the term of the council. Members of the Planning Commission also serve on the Zoning Subcommittee and/or the Subdivision Subcommittee. These subcommittees review specific development issues and provide policy recommendations to the full Planning Commission.

The Planning Commission is charged with developing and adopting the Comprehensive Plan for the City of Troy, as well as, providing analysis, recommendations, and approvals on matters dealing with the present and future development of the City, in accordance with the goals and policies of the City's Comprehensive Community Master Plan.  This includes reviewing, approving, and/or recommending to the City Council requests for master plan amendments, map changes, text amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, and regulation of subdivisions. 

For placement on the Planning Commission agenda, all complete application packets are due by 5PM the last business day of the month for the next month's meeting. The Planning Commission normally meets the fourth Thursday of every month at 4:00 p.m.(except for major holidays). All meetings are open to the public and are held at Troy City Hall, in the Council Chambers, at 301 Charles W. Meeks Avenue, Troy, Alabama 36081.
