Planning & Community Development

As the principal planning agency for the City of Troy, the Planning & Community Development Department promotes the comprehensive growth and well-being of the City and its neighborhoods. In addition to its planning functions, the Department oversees the City’s zoning and land use policies, zoning ordinance compliance and revisions, subdivision regulations, mapping, site plan review, flood plain administration, Planning Commission interface, Board of Adjustment support, the comprehensive plan, and long and short-range planning. Community development functions, downtown development and marketing, shop local programs, and airport management also fall under the purview of the Planning & Community Development Department.

The mission of this department is to promote positive community and economic development by providing high-quality services, customer support, development guidance, and programs designed to enhance the quality of life of the City’s residents, businesses and visitors and to promote a well-designed, physically integrated, livable and prosperous city while providing the community with personal attention, accurate information, and timely responses in a manner that instills public trust and confidence while exceeding service expectations.
