Hiring Process

The Troy Police Department is continuously looking to hire Certified Police Officers. APOSTC Certified Officers would not have to complete step 3 of the hiring process. Applicants who are not certified in the State of Alabama will have to complete all steps. Individuals wishing to apply for Police Officer positions may do so on the City of Troy Human Resources page or in person at Troy City Hall. Troy Police Department Administrative Staff will be the point of contact through the remaining steps of the hiring process. 

All applicants must be 20 years old at the time of application for the position of Police Officer.

Police Applicants will be involved in a multi-step process which consists of the following steps:

  1. Application with Human Resources
  2. Background Investigation
  3. Physical Fitness Test
  4. Initial Interview
  5. Chief Interview
  6. Psychological Exam
  7. Polygraph Exam
  8. Physical Exam
  9. Drug Screen
  10. Acceptance into Police Academy
