Inspection

The Inspection Department’s purpose is to protect the health, welfare, and property of its citizens through the proper enforcement of adopted building codes.  The Inspection Department enforces, effective January 1, 2022, the International Building Code, 2021 edition; International Mechanical Code, 2021 edition; International Plumbing Code, 2021 edition; International Fuel Gas Code, 2021 edition; International Swimming Pool Code, 2021 edition; International Residential Code, 2021 edition; National Electrical Code, 2020 edition; International Fire Code, 2021 edition.

Once a permit application is received, all building plans are reviewed for compliance with building codes prior to issuing any permits.  Construction projects require foundation, rough-in, and final inspections.  After contractors and sub-contractors have purchased a business license, all inspections have been completed, and any required corrections have been made, a certificate of occupancy will be issued.

Submit one hard copy and one digital copy of construction plans and specifications to the Building Department for review and comment prior to permitting. Digital copy can be emailed to plans@troyal.gov.
