Pike Animal Shelter

The Pike Animal Shelter is a 75 animal capacity facility, located in Troy, Alabama. The Pike Animal Shelter's goal is to foster a positive relationship between the community and it’s potentially adoptable cats and dogs. Our facility works daily with both city and county animal control officers, as well as the public, to maintain a healthy environment both in and outside of the shelter.

The Pike Animal Shelter operates under its current standard operating procedure to ensure the best quality care is given to each animal on a case by case basis. Each animal upon intake is vetted and provided the best possible medical care available. A healthy animal stay and ultimately adoption, (long term “forever home”) placement is our goal.

The Pike Animal Shelter follows all state and federal guidelines as they apply to our care and oversite of animals. All animals leaving the facility shall be spayed or neutered, etc. The shelter does not microchip inhouse, but we do operate the equipment necessary to help detect a chip upon intake. As often as possible, dogs are temperament, food, and cat tested to gain a better perspective on demeanor.

Adoptions are conducted daily and cost only $100 for cats/kittens and $125 for dogs/puppies. This fee includes parvo, rabies, and worming medications. Your adoption fee also includes the cost of a spay or neuter at a locally approved veterinarian. Intakes and adoptions are not conducted on Sunday.

The Pike Animal Shelter operates under a strict guideline that no sick, aggressive, or injured animals are to be taken into the facility. This is in the best interest of the currently housed animals as well as the staff members responsible for their care.

The Pike Animal Shelter currently operates under the following fee chart:
Adoption Fee: $100 for Cats/Kittens and $125 for Dogs/Puppies
Reclamation Fee: $45
Foster Fee: $0
Trial Fee: $25
Owner Surrendered Fee: $45

The shelter is always in need of dedicated volunteers, fosters, and donations. If you would like to donate, foster, or volunteer, please stop by the shelter any time during regular business hours to meet the staff. Receipts are available upon request for donations. Our facility is always in need of the following items: cat food, dog food, puppy food, litter, leashes, collars, cleaning materials, bleach, mops, brooms, exam gloves, etc. You can view and order from our Wish List on Amazon HERE.
